The Elementrees dreamed up a storm as they worked on their vision boards in Amy Lockhart’s backyard.
“I have a vision, but you’re standing in my way, so I can’t see past you,” Pete Moss, who was the shortest member of the Elementrees, told Brian Glass, who was the tallest.
Brian moved out of Pete’s way and sat further away by himself. He took out a glass marble from his pocket and started drawing it on his vision board.
Pete sat under a tree and drew his vision board, adding a big tree, a patch of moss, and the word “Green.” He really enjoyed nature.
“All I need is a ship, a compass, some wind, and a star to sail her by,” Abigail Abacus said as she drew a directional compass on her vision board.
“Would you settle for a canoe?” Cleo Redding asked her.
“No problem. I don’t have either, yet.”
“At least you have the compass,” Cleo said, pointing to the compass on Abigail’s paper. “…So you won’t get lost in the woods.”
Underneath the apricot tree, Brenda Books was reluctantly working on her vision board. “I don’t really need a vision board,” she said quietly. “My eyesight is 20/20 like the news special…with a little help from my glasses.”
On the grass in the middle of the backyard sat Cynthia Buttons. “I’m bored of this vision board,” Cynthia said as she looked at her blank piece of paper and curled some of her hair on a finger. Then she had a brilliant idea and drew something exciting: Prince Charming!
While the Elementrees worked on their personal vision boards, Amy Lockhart went inside her house and brought back out one big poster board that was 28 inches long by 22 inches wide. All the Elementrees had been drawing images and writing words on their vision papers. Now they were going to have one big poster board to build their group vision for the Elementrees.
“May I have your attention, please?” Amy said loudly cupping the poster board around her mouth, using it like a megaphone. This actually made her voice echo.
All the Elementrees looked up at her and some started laughing. She looked pretty silly holding the large poster board around her mouth like that.
“Hey everybody, Amy has an elephant nose!” Tommy Tomorrow said as he laughed and leaned back into the grass from his sitting position.
“This is not an elephant nose!” Amy said, bringing the poster board down and putting a hand on her hip. “This is a poster board for our group’s vision. We can all add something here for our club, the Elementrees. I will leave this up here, so everyone can add to it.”
Their group vision board ended up having the following designs:
A heart and key from Amy Lockhart.
A friendship bracelet from Trudy Jones.
Egyptian Pyramids from Cleo Redding.
A rocket ship, stars, the moon, and Mars from Tommy Tomorrow.
A bishop chess piece from Bobby Bishop.
A tree from Pete Moss.
A glass marble from Brian Glass.
A book from Brenda Books.
An abacus from Abigail Abacus.
A button from Cynthia Buttons.
Their group vision board had a little piece of each Elementrees member on it. Cool Cal even added his paw print to it to give it his seal of approval.
